Developing effective leadership and teamwork requires real challenges in testing situations. OLT have worked for over a decade now with corporate clients to design bespoke leadership skills training and corporate team-building programmes. We have helped deal with declining productivity by building high performance teams, supported management at the highest level where there has been rapid growth, developed future leaders and trained incoming apprentices to ensure they are focused from day one. Programmes include ILM qualifications, leadership training, apprentice training and corporate team-building days.

We believe strong businesses need strong leaders and that strong leaders need strong teams. For us learning through experience is the key to drawing out strengths and weaknesses in individuals and groups. These can then be developed to help bring about sustained improvements in performance and productivity.

All our facilitators are highly experienced and passionate about using their knowledge to develop people and businesses.

Our training programmes can either take place in Somerset at our purpose-built site, with tasks set in 70  acres, or we can travel to you. The types of tasks available are dependent on the location and whether the programme will take place in – or outdoors. 

The OLT site is situated in the heart of Somerset, in England's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty - the Quantock Hills. It is easily accessible from J24 of the M5 motorway between Bridgwater and Taunton, 45 minutes from Bristol and Exeter Airports and only two hours by train from London.

There are over 20 permanent tasks and challenges, tented accommodation, hot showers, compost loos, a big 'braai' (large campfire circle with benches & BBQ). It also has a large undercover shelter/area with removable sides. See our gallery for pictures of the OLT site. 

Gathering round the large campfire in the evenings or under cover in the Bush Shelter, with the warmth of its open fire and glowing lanterns, makes for the perfect ending to a busy and exciting day, where everyone can come together, share the laughter and re-live the day's experiences. We can accommodate up to 70 people in tents. Local hotels can be used for larger groups or those who would prefer this type of accommodation.

Michael Kingscote - Founder & Managing Director

From the age of 19 Michael was leading on military operations. He was exposed to complex, high tempo, dangerous situations and subsequently commanded a UK Special Forces Regiment. Formal leadership training equipped him with the skills he needed to succeed. Michael founded Outposts Ltd (OLT is a brand of Outposts Ltd) in 1997, where he has applied his leadership skills in business. He provides facilitation to numerous clients, from apprentice to board level.

Chris Ray - Lead Facilitator

Chris has had extensive experience in training and leadership development. He started out in the Royal Marines, recruiting and training commandos. He moved into leadership consultancy and is now owner of  Success Creation that works in the education industry, owner of Vision and Performance specialising in sports coaching, Performance Director of the Young Racing Driver’s Academy and Director of The Business of Sport.  

Katie Dorpman - Project Manager

Katie Dorpman - Project Manager

Katie is currently on maternity leave. 

Having been born and bred in the West Country Katie spent her Gap year travelling through Brazil and India as well as working for a mission charity in Lucknow.

She graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MA in Cultural History and International Relations before spending two ski seasons chalet hosting in the French and Swiss Alps.
